Help Find a Solution to the Gulf Oil Spill

On May 28, 2010, in Misc, by Mitch Milam

Ok people, I think it’s time to think outside the box.

After more than a month is seems like we are no closer to finding a solution to the run-away oil well in the Gulf of Mexico than we were when this whole thing started.

So, let’s pool our collective intelligence and look for solutions to the problem.  There are over 6 billion people on this planet and I find it really hard to believe that someone doesn’t have a good or great idea or ideas that can help us end this situation.

To that end, I have created a web site to help collect and disseminate ideas and information:

Stop the Gulf Spill

There are two ‘forums’ on the site which will allow people to suggest ideas on the following two important topics:

  1. How Would You Clean Up the Oil?
  2. How Would You Stop the Leak?

Anyone can suggest an idea and the site will let you comment on ideas other people have suggested.  Finally, you can vote on ideas that you feel are the most viable.

How will this information be used?  I have no idea.  But, if we can at least get the conversation flowing, maybe someone with the ability to make things happen will pay attention.

If you have any feedback, comments, or suggestions, just email me at admin@stopthegulfspill.com

Thanks, Mitch

I don't know how big the hole is, but couldn't they make an oversized screw to drive into the hole?

  2. Dennis Wolgamott says:

Solution: Magnetize the well casing. Then use ball bearings or metal shavings mixed with their compacting mud to clog the pipe.

  3. Ric says:

Liquid nitrogen is cheap, and, freezes water, and oil on contact. Probably too simple for the big boys !

  4. Sandy says:

Would it be possible to surround the oil flow at the bottom of the ocean with some flexible material (a mile long) like a hose. Hopefully the robots could hold or attach this to the blow out preventer. This could carry the oil to the top where a large bowl construction could be placed around the hose to capture overflow. Once the oil is flowing at the top of the ocean, there must be a way to pump it into a ship. I am grasping at straws, but there must be a way. We cannot wait until August. We must find a way.

Thank you for this web site. I hope BP is searching the internet also for solutions.

We can provide a solution that will allow us to clean up the oil as quickly as possible as we can.The experts and other observers were growing increasingly skeptical that BP would be able to plug the well.the residence should be cooperate to the government sectors. And the best solution is to pray and ask wisdom to G-d thanks for your informative article more power to your site! keep it up! G-d bless ;-)

fixing the gulf leak design by me carl torello

    cylinder within a cylinder ..
    inner cylinder has holes to let pressure out{inner}
outer cylinder has valve on top for pumping oil out…
outer cylinder slides over inner cylinder…
inner cylinder welded to cut/ broken pipe…
inner cylinder welded.. outer slid over inner
as the outer cylinder slides down over the inner it will seal and… pressure will be confined to the outer cylinder and ready to pump to the surface…

Why cant they create a cross and put that in the pipe. Think of like a nazi iron cross and expand it so it fits tight inside the pipe. Then put another cross rotated 90 degrees into the pipe behind the first one. The two crosses will elimate the flow and then you can plug the hole behind them.

    Dennis,

Why don't you post your solution at the site instead of putting a comment here?

Get one of our mothball ships gut it out, capsize it attach 3 shutoff valves on the hull, open valve to slowly lower capsized ship over well. when ship is in place shut valves. middle valve should be modified w/ pipe in place to allow for oil collection.
