  • Supportability Redefined: Way Unsupported

This week I was working with one of CRM partners with whom I do a lot of business discussing with one of their customers Dynamics CRM development and best practices, among other things.

During the second day, as we're reviewing client-side customization, we touched on the subject of supported vs. unsupported customizations.

In a flash of what can only be called, "brilliance," I redefined unsupported customizations into the following two categories:

    Unsupported

Is your typical, "we need this functionality but Microsoft frowns on this technique."

    Way-Unsupported

Is when you do something that is so "out of the box" that even though it accomplishes the task, you may be in for an ugly surprise when next upgrade cycle takes place.

    1. Yeah, it's like puttin' a bicycle tire on your car to get to the next gas station. It *might* work. :o)
