It came to my attention yesterday, after a request from a customer, that there isn't any easy method to modify the default views used to display the Marketing List Members.  I found this very hard to believe, but after Googling around a bit, I found a solution presented by Diego Zanetti on the CRM Sandbox message boards.

I thought I'd expand on Diego's solution a bit and provide some additional background.

Background

Marketing Lists can be based on Accounts, Contacts, and Leads.  Each Entity has an associated view used to display Marketing List Members.  Unfortunately, those views are not shown in the available Views list when you are customizing the Entity in question.  Fortunately, we still have a legal and supported method for making modifications.

The Process

Each of the three Entities has a distinct Marketing List Member View, which we can edit by exercising one of the following URLs:

Account:

http://crm/tools/vieweditor/viewManager.aspx?id={51DE84DD-732F-440F-A506-26123A19AB50}

Displays the following:

Contact:

Displays the following:

Lead:

Displays the following:

This is the normal CRM View Editor which we have accessed directly, instead of through the CRM UI.

Make changes as you would with any other CRM View then click the Save and Close button to save those changes.

Finally, go to the Settings, Customization, Customize Entities page, select the Entity you modified and Publish changes to make them available to all CRM users.
