If you've been reading my blog for any period of time, you've probably seen my references to Mindjet's MindManager software. I use it on a daily basis to do everything from organizing my to-do list to tracking project requirements.
If you are also a user of MindManager, I would advise you to check out the Mindjet Labs site, if you have not already. Here is what Mindjet has to say about it:
The Mindjet Labs has evolved from a place where MindManager experts and partners went to find solution possibilities to a place where customers go to find out how to make their usage of MindManager most effective.
One of the coolest MindManager add-ins I've seen recently is their External Reference Linker. This add-in allows you to create a live link to another MindManager map.
For simplicity, I have broken down my work into a "master" map that references other maps that are project or category based. The External Reference Linker allows me to import the contents of the external map and place them into the master map, as demonstrated by the picture below.
Any changes made to the external map will be reflected in the master map. This allows me to have a single view of all of the things I'm working on without having to open and review each map individually.
The only problem I have with this add-in is the fact that it is a single direction update - from external to master. This means that I can't update the linked map content inside the master and have it reflected back to the original map.
But other than that, it's pretty cool.
